Ingredients & Prep

Chestnut mushrooms, thinly sliced

Onion finely chopped
80 g
Grated gruyere cheese
8 Thin slices of bread buttered
10 g
Golden caster sugar
1 Garlic clove, finely chopped
2 tsp
fresh Thyme leaves, finely chopped
1/2 tsp
fresh Black pepper ground
1/2 tsp
salt
1 tbsp
Olive oil for frying
Method
Step 1
Fry onion in a frying pan with olive oil until light brown, add sugar, salt & pepper, turn up heat & add mushrooms & cook & stir for (8 mins), add garlic cook for further 2 mins, stir in thyme & take off heat to cool.
Step 2
Cut bread with a round pastry cutter to 7 to 8 cm across, butter one side & stick into wholes in a tartlet tin making individual cups.
Step 3
Fill cups equally with mushroom mixture the sprinkle over cheese, bake in the oven pre heated to 200c for 15 to 20 mins, until cheeses is bubbling.
Step 4
Place on serving plate warm & sprinkle over with any fresh thyme leftover.
Suggestion & Tips
You can change to all butter puff pastry if preferred instead of bread.
