Ingredients & Prep
130 g
Plain flour
3 Eggs med
80 g
Butter salted soft
20 g
Honey
7 g
Dried yeast
Soaking Syrup
500 ml
Water
130 g
Golden caster sugar
125 ml
Dark rum
1 Orange rind only
Method
Step 1
In a bowl add eggs, honey & yeast & whisk together, then add flour & mix together then add butter & mix to form a smooth batter.
Step 2
Grease small moulds like mini savarin/ doughnut or small pudding moulds to the number of portions selected, then pour in equally the batter, place in a warm place to double in size.
Step 3
Pre-heat oven to 180°c fan.
Step 4
Place in the oven for 12 minutes or until light golden brown on top, remove & allow to cool.
Step 5
Place the water, sugar Rum & orange rind (use a potato peeler), place over a med heat & bring to a simmer stirring for 1 minute, turn off the heat then remove Babas for there moulds & dip into the syrup for 30 seconds to soak in, then place in serving dishes to cool.
Suggestion & Tips
Eat with whipped cream & fruit of choice or a fruit compote.
