Ingredients & Prep
450 g
Plain flour
160 g
Butter salted soft
150 g
Light muscovado sugar
150 g
Golden syrup
50 g
Black treacle
1 Egg med
1 tbsp
Ground ginger
1 tsp
Ground cinnamon
1 tsp
Baking powder
1 tsp
Vanilla paste or extract
Icing
120 g
Icing sugar
1 tbsp
Water or lemon juice
Method
Step 1
Place butter & sugar then beat to light & fluffy with either a food mixer or a electric hand mixer, then add both syrup & treacle & beat it, then add eggs & vanilla & beat in, next add flour, baking powder & the spices, then fold in with a silicon spatula or slowly with mixer to form a dough, for best results cover & place in the fridge for 3 hours before rolling.
Step 2
Pre-heat oven to 160°C fan.
Step 3
Roll out dough on a sheet of greaseproof paper, cut our desired shapes with a pastry cutter then transfer onto a baking sheet, then remove excess pastry, combine dough from the trimmings & re do to use up pastry.
Step 4
Place in the oven for 12 mins to bake then allow to completely cool before taking off the paper.
Step 5
In a bowl mix icing sugar add liquid a little at a time to get a good consistency, then place in a piping bag with a small nozzle & decorate with your own design, then set aside to dry for a few hours.

This recipe is not a hard biscuit one its a little softer then the standard.
